Summer Undergraduate Research Program
Our summer program is a unique opportunity for undergraduates to try their hand at cutting-edge biomedical science and gain research experience for graduate school or employment.
Program Features
- Conduct research in the laboratory of a top-tier scientist for at least 12 weeks of full-time research, beginning in May.
- Orientation in May to learn about program expectations and meet other summer undergraduate students.
- Research seminars from leading faculty in the fields of systems biology, computer science and bioengineering.
- Q and A sessions with graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and research associates.
- Symposium at the end of the summer, with a chance to win a prize for presenting your research!
Eligibility
In order to participate in the Donnelly Centre Undergraduate Research Program you will be expected to:
- Be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate program at a Canadian university* prior to and following the summer research program.
- Secure a supervisor from the Donnelly Centre faculty.
*International students should review opportunities at the Centre for International Experience prior to contacting a Donnelly Centre faculty member.
How to Secure a Supervisor
Submit the following materials when reaching out to your potential supervisor:
- Cover letter that outlines why you would like to work with them, including your understanding of their research
- Description of your research experience and career goals
- Resume or CV that includes your program and year of study
- Transcript (unofficial)
Student Awards
- Apply for the Donnelly Centre Summer Student Research Award by February 27, 2024.
