Dr. Milica Radisic Elected as Fellow of Biomaterials Science and Engineering (FBSE)

Dr. Milica Radisic has been elected as a Fellow of Biomaterials Science and Engineering (FBSE), a high honour bestowed by the global biomaterials community on exceptional scientists.  

The esteemed title of FBSE is conferred upon individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and contribution to biomaterials research, education, and service. This prestigious recognition is reserved for those whose impact is not only measured by their groundbreaking research but extends to their commitment to the advancement of the entire biomaterials field.  

This prestigious recognition places Dr. Radisic among an esteemed group of fewer than 500 world-renowned biomaterials scientists. 

Dr. Milica Radisic, a distinguished Professor at the University of Toronto and Canada Research Chair in Organ-on-a-Chip Engineering, she has significantly impacted organ-on-a-chip engineering and biomaterial development. Her exceptional achievements include directing the NSERC CREATE Training Program in Organ-on-a-Chip Engineering & Entrepreneurship and founding the collaborative centre, CRAFT, focused on translating organ-on-a-chip devices into viable products.  

With a prolific publication record and an impressive h-index of 65, Dr. Radisic’s transformative discoveries have resulted in numerous awards, substantial funding, and the training of 114 researchers. Recognized as a Fellow of prestigious academies, she has held esteemed fellowships, including the NSERC E.W.R. Steacie Memorial and Killam Research Fellowships. Dr. Radisic’s international leadership is evident through editorial roles, organizing symposia, and serving as a Scientific Officer. Her multifaceted contributions extend to board positions, showcasing her leadership in professional societies and university centers.

Dr. Radisic is set to be formally inducted as a fellow during the upcoming 12th World Biomaterials Congress in Daegu, South Korea, scheduled for May 2024.
