Summer Undergraduate Research Program

Our summer program is a unique opportunity for undergraduates to try their hand at cutting-edge biomedical science and gain research experience for graduate school or employment.

Program Features

  • Conduct research in the laboratory of a top-tier scientist for at least 12 weeks of full-time research, beginning in May.
  • Orientation in May to learn about program expectations and meet other summer undergraduate students.
  • Research seminars from leading faculty in the fields of systems biology, computer science and bioengineering.
  • Q and A sessions with graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and research associates.
  • Symposium at the end of the summer, with a chance to win a prize for presenting your research!

Eligibility

In order to participate in the Donnelly Centre Undergraduate Research Program you will be expected to:

  • Be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate program at a Canadian university* prior to and following the summer research program.
  • Secure a supervisor from the Donnelly Centre faculty.

*International students should review opportunities at the Centre for International Experience prior to contacting a Donnelly Centre faculty member.

How to Secure a Supervisor

Submit the following materials when reaching out to your potential supervisor:

  1. Cover letter that outlines why you would like to work with them, including your understanding of their research
  2. Description of your research experience and career goals
  3. Resume or CV that includes your program and year of study
  4. Transcript (unofficial)
